Nightmare

The monstrous purview of the Nosferatu, vampires who possess this talent are adept at engendering fear and madness in others.

Available To: Nosferatu

1) Dread Presence

The character can channel their monstrous nature in order to intimidate those around them.

Failure

Your character is unable to summon up the full force of your personality on this occasion.

Success

Please show this screen to any player within about 2 paces.  (Use your judgement as to who qualifies.)

Your character will find the character showing you this screen extremely intimidating for the next 5 minutes.  Defer to them in conversation, and generally act as if you will do whatever they say because you're afraid of what they'll do if you don't.  At the end of the time, the fear fades, but your character will not realise that your behaviour was being erratic or was being influenced, unless it is pointed out by a third party.

Exceptional Success

Please show this screen to any player within about 2 paces.  (Use your judgement as to who qualifies.)

Your character will find the character showing you this screen extremely intimidating for the next 15 minutes.  Defer to them in conversation, and generally act as if you will do whatever they say because you're afraid of what they'll do if you don't.  At the end of the time, the fear fades, but your character will not realise that your behaviour was being erratic or was being influenced, unless it is pointed out by a third party.

2) The Grand Delusion

Your character can channel their own monstrous madness, and infect others with strange notions.  You may describe a single altered “fact” about the world to another player, and their character will believe it for a short window.  The fact should be expressed in a single simple sentence, like “Your friends secretly hate you” or “Purple objects are dangerous to touch.”:

Failure

Your character is unable to summon up the full force of their power on this occasion.

Success

Please show this to the one target within arm’s reach.

Your character has been afflicted with a specific delusion - the person using this power on you will describe the delusion you have suffered to you.  For the next 5 minutes, your character will unshakably believe this new "fact" about their life or the world. What they do as a result is entirely up to you, but as a guide, please treat the severity as something akin to a first level beast trigger, in terms of influencing your actions - their temporary worldview should be visible to others, as far as possible.  At the end of the time, they will return to normal, and realise that this power has been used on them, but not by whom.

3) Hallucinations

Your character can channel their own monstrous madness, and infect others with strange notions.  You may describe terrible visions, and their character will react appropriately. This power may not be used to bestow benign or pleasant visions.  It may be used to conjure visions of fire, but these visions cannot trigger Rotschrek – the Beast can tell the difference, even if the human cannot.  The hallucination can include all the senses, and can respond to or otherwise interact with the other character in a manner consistent with the general intent of the hallucination, but it is a product of the target’s mind, so it is up to the target’s player to decide exactly what it might say or do.

Your character has been afflicted with a specific hallucination - the person using this power on you will describe the describe what they are seeing to you.  For the next 5 minutes, your character will unshakably believe that whatever they're seeing is real, in the face of any and all evidence. What they do as a result is entirely up to you, but please respect that a power has been used on you, and this should to cause an effect beyond the purely internal - is should be clear to others that they're seeing something awful.  At the end of the time, the will return to normal, and realise that this power has been used on them, but not by whom.
